From fresh flowers to festive tablecloths, get your party hopping with Atelier’s favorite tablescape ideas - all of which are sure to wow your guests!

USE FRESH FLOWERS AS A CENTERPIECE

Incorporating fresh flowers into a space is likely going to show up on every “design tip” blog we write, but guess what? We don’t care! No matter what the occasion or room, fresh flowers inspire an immediate lift in the spirit and bring a sense of life that is truly unmatched. You’ll notice that for each of our tablescape examples pictured, we used fresh flowers as the centerpiece and focal point. For Easter decor specifically, we suggest decorating with flowers that reflect the feelings of the season and holiday such as lilies, tulips, and daisies. If you’re going for a formal tablescape, you can’t go wrong by incorporating roses.

CANDLES, CANDLES, CANDLES

Here at Atelier Interior Design, we love candles and don’t believe a tablescape is complete without them. Just like fresh flowers, regardless of the occasion, there is always a place for candles. When incorporating them, consider incorporating candles of varying heights. Also, feel free to mix metals and styles when it comes to the holders. By using this decorating technique, you’ll add warmth to your table encouraging and creating an intimate setting.

MIX PATTERNS & COLORS

Mixing patterns and colors is a rule of thumb for us, especially when decorating for a festive holiday or event. In both of our Easter tablescape designs, we weren’t afraid to push the envelope by mixing colors and patterns between the tablecloths, napkins, runner, and dinnerware. Essentially, don’t be afraid - if you have something fun in your home that you’d like to use, use it! For a tablescape to make an impact, interesting layers, colors, and patterns are a must.

IF YOU HAVE CHINA, USE IT

We often assume wedding china or fine china that has been passed down is meant for only uber special occasions. Wrong! If you save your china dinnerware, or even crystal glasses, for only special events, you’ll never use it. Who decides which events are special enough, anyway? We’re saying all of this just to say, if you have fine china, whether it’s patterned or not, use it on your table to add a sense of elegance as a treat to your guests.

HAVE FUN WITH DECORATIVE ITEMS

If you want to take your tablescape up a notch, decorative items are a great way to do so. For this particular tip, we highly suggest shopping your home - and by “shopping your home”, we mean looking around your house for decorative objects that you love that would fit well with the table you’re creating. If you have the itch to go shopping, ditch the boring salt and pepper shaker and hit your local thrift store for some fun ceramic shakers or for Easter specifically, grab some bunnies or eggs to incorporate.

ENJOY YOUR TABLE AND COMPANY

Our last tip is more like a reminder. After all this work you’ve put into creating your table and making your meal, you deserve to sit and enjoy it. As the host or hostess, it’s easy to get caught up in making sure everyone’s glass or plate is always full. To overcome this, there is absolutely no shame in placing serving dishes with a cover nearby and a pitcher with water, or whatever else everyone is drinking, on the table. At the end of the day, you’ve created this gorgeous table and delicious meal for not only your guests, but for yourself as well - ENJOY IT!
